4.5.09Verizon - street scene Santa Monica Promenade
I completed the commissioned painting I was talking about last week! It turned out great, but unfortunately I cannot show it to you yet, the painting is a surprise gift.
But I do have Verizon to show you. The painting is a street scene I witnessed at the Santa Monica Promenade in Los Angeles. I think it's my favourite street there. I love the colors and shadows of the telephone booth by Verizon, after which I entitled the painting. In other news, tomorrow we celebrate Liberation Day in the Netherlands. A lot of artists perform during the festivities and I think they're performing right next to my studio. At this moment some guys are putting fences around my building. I was planning to paint tomorrow, but right now I'm not sure if I can even enter my studio at all. We'll see how that goes! kind regards, Gerard  Verizon G. 1.10.08The Call
In 2005 I showed my work at Galerie Rudolfv in Amsterdam. The gallery now celebrates its tenth anniversary and they invited all their artists to participate in a huge group show which is held from oct 18 - nov 29. The show opens on oct 18 at 5 pm (17:00h). Of course I'm participating in this special show and I think todays painting is the one I'm sending in. The painting is the larger sized version of The Call I did earlier this year on 10 x 10 cm (4" x 4")panel. I love the theme and I think it's a great contribution to the show.

1.6.08The Call
Inspired by yesterdays painting of a man placing a telephone call late at night, todays painting The Call also shows somebody in a phonebooth at night. The phonebooth is now located in my hometown Leeuwarden near the trainstation. The painting has the same meaning as The Distance. I sure hope you enjoy this painting as much as I did painting it!

3.12.07The Telephone
Almost everybody has a mobile phone nowadays, but this painting could only work with a public phone. Luckily those are still around too. I wanted to create a painting full of suspense and I think I did a good job here. It looks like the phone could ring any minute from now and you’re just happen to be around to pick it up and answer the call.
Last week I finished painting the commission by the Leeuwarder Courant for their Christmas Special. The people at the largest newspaper in my region were excited about ‘The Exception‘ as the painting is titled. Unfortunately you guys have to wait to see it due the publicist rights. High quality reproductions, giclées as they call it, of this painting will be available soon in a limited edition of just 100. Today me and reporter Sietse Singelsma went to Art Revisited, the company which will make these giclées. We had the grand tour around the company and it was really interesting to find out how giclées are made. I would like to thank everybody at Art Revisited and I cannot wait to see the giclée of my own painting! kind regards, Gerard Boersma
