This still life painting shows a bookshelf filled with books on art, most notably of course the Modern Art book with Marilyn Monroe's portrait by Andy Warhol on it. In the lower left corner I put in a magic square. It's called magic because if you count the numbers in all directions you end up time and again with the same number. Instead of someone admiring a painting in a museum, I was curious what would happen if I just showed the painting by itself. So now I made a copy of a painting without it being a forgery. Boersma Available through Waterhouse Gallery, Santa Barbara, USA My first larger scaled still life painting of this year shows a bookshelf filled with books on art, most notably of course the book with Picasso's portrait on it. It's a variation of my art within art theme. The painting invites you to fantasize about the content of the books, but to me personally I love the fact that different mediums are at play all at once.
