Luc Tuymans’ interiors are spaces of psychological unease and historical trauma. Rather than comforting domestic settings, he paints seemingly mundane rooms with pale, ghostly hues to expose underlying societal dangers. My figure doesn't seem to be too daunted by it.

When visiting Andy Warhol's studio The Factory Dorothy Podber saw the recently completed paintings of Marilyn's stacked against one another. She asked Warhol if she could shoot them. Believing that she intended to photograph the paintings, Warhol agreed.

Podber doffed her pair of black gloves, withdrew a small revolver from her purse, and fired a shot into the stack of four paintings, which became known as The Shot Marilyns.
