Beneath the pipe he wrote Ceci n'est pas une pipe meaing this is not a pipe. Of course the painting shows a pipe, but it's true though. It's not a real pipe, it's an image of a pipe. Well actually, on my painting it's an image of an image of pipe. That's why I entitled the painting 'This is not a Magritte'. kind regards, Gerard This is not a Magritte G.
