This painting shows a woman enjoying a painting of a woman reading in bed by Will Barnet. This American artist is known for its exploration of the relationship between the human figure and abstract forms.

He frequently used imagery of solitary figures, family, and animals (especially birds and cats) to symbolize the connection between the internal and external world.

All the best, Gerard

I'm staying with the books today, well a reader that is. I saw this woman in the library of Amsterdam sitting down and getting updated of what's going on in the world. I tried to paint this one a bit more lose as usual, giving the painting a more painterly feel. I kind of like it.

kind regards, Gerard

The Literature

I just started to make a painting a day and I must say I just love to do it. Todays painting is one of my favourite subjects lately, the bookstore. Readers always look so peaceful and at the same time I feel it's really meaningful in some way. Like painting I cannot get enough of it. This time I spotted this lady sitting down for some good reading in one of the local bookstores.

In other news Omrop Fryslan called. This broadcaster will interview me on the radio about my daily paintings this tuesday. If you happen to be in the province Friesland in the Netherlands you can hear it about 11.30h.

kind regards, Gerard Boersma

The Reader

I love to read, so it’s no wonder that you can find me at the library quite often. I love to read literature classics, some books about philosophy and of course I love to read about art. One day I saw this lady sitting with her book. The whole scene looked so peaceful and at the same time meaningful.

Have a nice weekend!
