Méditerranée- Painting Of A Woman Enjoying A Painting By Ellsworth Kelly

Méditerranée

SOLD

This work of 30 x 30 cm shows a man enjoying a painting by Ellsworth Kelly. The title translates to "Mediterranean".

Like many of his transitional works from his time in France, it reflects Kelly's deep fascination with light, horizons, and reflections on aquatic environments rather than a direct landscape illustration.

All the best, Gerard

My painting shows a man enjoying a painting by Ellsworth Kelly. His art is about the 'thing itself,' the essence of shapes seen in the world, translated into simple, hard-edged, and impactful visual statements.

Ellsworth Kelly was an American painter, sculptor, and printmaker associated with Hard-edge painting, Color Field painting and Minimalism. His works demonstrate unassuming techniques emphasizing line, color and form.

Kelly intended for viewers to experience his artwork with instinctive, physical responses to the work's structure, color, and surrounding space rather than with contextual or interpretive analysis. He encourages a kind of silent encounter, or bodily participation by the viewer with the artwork, chiefly by presenting bold and contrasting colors free of gestural brushstrokes.
