The woman on my painting is enjoying Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer I (also called The Lady in Gold or The Woman in Gold) by Gustav Klimt.

The painting was stolen by the Nazis in 1941 and following eight years of effort by the Bloch-Bauer heirs, the painting was returned to the family; it was sold the same year for $135 million, at the time a record price for a painting. The portrait is the final and most fully representative work of Klimt's golden phase.

I recently made a few studies of people enjoying works of art by Alphonse Mucha. I settled on making this larger piece of a man enjoying his painting entitled 'Reverie' which means 'dreaming'.

Alphonse Mucha was a Czech painter and decorative artist best known for his distinct Art Nouveau or Jugendstil style, an art movement that was most popular between 1890 and 1910. Mucha produced many paintings, illustrations, advertisements, postcards, and designs.

Art Nouveau means New Art and was a reaction to the academic art of the 19th century. It was inspired by Celtic art and natural forms and structures, particularly the curved lines of plants and flowers The painting my figure is enjoying is a clear example.

Tamara de Lempicka was a Polish painter active in the 1920s and 1930s, who spent her working life in France and the United States. She is best known for her polished Art Deco portraits of aristocrats and the wealthy, and for her highly stylized paintings of nudes.

Her style was a blend of late, refined cubism and the neoclassical style. Lempicka placed high value on working to produce her own fortune, famously saying, 'There are no miracles, there is only what you make.'

Last week I looked at my painting American Flag of a woman enjoying a painting of a flag by Jasper Johns. My eye then felt on a small study which showed a man in a pink shirt.

I put two and two together and came up with this idea of a man wearing a pink shirt enjoying a rainbow flag in a museum.

The Climax is an 1893 illustration by Aubrey Beardsley (1872–1898), a leading artist of the Decadent and Aesthetic movements.

It depicts a scene from Oscar Wilde's play Salome, in which the femme fatale Salome has just kissed the severed head of John the Baptist, which she grasps in her hands.

Elements of eroticism, symbolism, and Orientalism are present in the piece. This illustration is one of sixteen Wilde commissioned Beardsley to create for the publication of the play. The series is considered to be Beardsley's most celebrated work.
