29.10.08The Wall
You are probably wondering why the man on the painting is staring at a wall. Well, the wall is a vending machine. After inserting your coin you can open a little window to get some kind of snack. When lucky the snack is steaming hot, when you ran fresh out of luck the snack is not edible at all. It's worth a try though!
The Wall will be shown at my open studio this weekend, which I'm really looking forward to. As for now I'm busy preparing, you know figuring out what to show, framing and many other little things that need to be taking care of. It's taking shape as we speak and I cannot wait to greet my guests! kind regards, Gerard Boersma 
22.10.08Kentucky Fried Chicken
With the hamburgers from last week it's now time for a bucket of chicken. Yes, on todays painting you see the speciality of Kentucky Fried Chicken. I didn't touch it myself, just painted it, but I had a couple of beers yesterday. I've always got a craven for fastfood the day after, who knows I might try it today. A fresh one that is..
Not only will my work next weekend (1 and 2 nov.) be represented by Warnars & Warnars at the Affordable Art Fair Amsterdam, but next weekend I'm also having an open studio again. I will show my latest hyperrealism paintings and some exclusive works which I especially painted for this occasion. The open studio coincides with the opening of Gallery Kunstuitleen Friesland. Their first show will feature a couple of works by me too. The gallery is located in the same building where I have my studio, so a visit to both events is possible. 17.10.08Whopper
Of course I couldn't resist painting the largest concurrent of Big Mac as well. Todays painting shows the Burger King speciality Whopper. If you compare the burgers you hardly see any difference, but I think the Whopper might be slightly more healthier, because of the tomatoes and eggs.

In the Netherlands you can get your fastfood out of a wall. The vending machine is build into a wall and after putting your coin in you can open a lock of your choice and get your steaming hot food right away. On the painting you see two of those locks with hamburgers inside. The title refers to the company Febo who operates the vending machines. They're quite popular over here and make a lovely still-life.
