Mother & Son
cityscape street scene painting of a woman and her child walking

G. Boersma
acrylics on masonite
6" x 6" or 15 x 15 cm
2012

It's been a while since my last update, that's because I'm working on larger scaled pieces as you might have guessed. But I did find time to paint this wonderful scene of a woman and her child walking.

I'm experimenting a little with style here. It's a bit more lose than usual, but I think I like it. How about you?

kind regards, Gerard

The larger sized painting I talked about yesterday will have to wait for monday I'm afraid, there are still a few things that need some work. Nothing big, but I know they're going to irritate me if I don't work on it some more. In the meantime I sure hope you enjoy todays painting. The painting the little girl is looking at is by Chagall. The scene is situated in the MOMA in New York.

Todays painting is a commissioned portrait. The painting of the little girl was a birthday present for her mother. The panel is quite small and at first I wasn't completely sure I got a good likeness, but the mother assured me I nailed it. You cannot argue with that!

The Generations

Last friday I went to Amsterdam to take some pictures for my paintings. The Generations is the first of a new series of paintings about people in museums. On the painting you see an young woman holding her child. She's looking at some famous paintings by Rembrandt. The scene is taken from the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.
