The man in this painting is enjoying Banksy’s Bomb Love (also known as Bomb Hugger). Originally conceived as a powerful critique of state-sponsored violence, the iconic street piece shows a young girl tenderly embracing a massive aerial missile as if it were a cherished teddy bear.
The subject engages with the visual contrast between childhood innocence and mechanized destruction. Ultimately, the artwork's message is that universal compassion and love hold the power to disarm hostility.
If you look closely on the second picture you see my painting Hope hanging right next to it in Galerie Coste in Deauville, France, 2018. On the right you see a glimpse of a soup can by Andy Warhol. Not bad company!
All the best, Gerard
