Standing in front of Roy Lichtenstein’s 'Whaam!', you are hit with a massive, loud wave of comic-book energy. I love the sharp contrast between that explosive background and the quiet presence of a real person just taking it all in.
Ultimately, to me the painting is about the idea of staying completely calm while the world around you explodes.
All the best, Gerard
