Crying Girl G. Boersma SOLD Roy Lichtenstein was a Pop Art painter mostly known for his paintings based on comic strips. These works usually portray the trivialization of culture endemic in contemporary American life. In Crying Girl, the painting my figure is enjoying, Lichtenstein studies the gendered aspects of the female identity. He highlights the glamorized idealization of an American girl. On the outside she seems beautiful and content, but the emotions in this painting burst out, showing that beneath the perfection she is truly struggling. 24.8.134 Years Later- Portrait Of Barack Obama As Superman Whitewashed
4 Years Later Right after his inauguration in 2009 I made a portrait of Barack Obama as Superman. Four years later I updated the portrait by adding a transparent white layer. I consider this portrait to be finished and signed it in the lower right corner. The pics below show the portrait before and after. kind regards, Gerard
UPDATE: In 2017 I painted something completely new on this panel. With that I destroyed Obama Superman.

Obama Superman This painting is no longer available as it didn't held up to my standards. I thought the painting was pretty weak and more of a cartoon than a real painting. I first whitewashed it and called that a painting for some arty farty reason. But then I totally painted it over. The new painting on top of it sold.
