Painting in Progress

Painting In Progress
the first stages of a brand new painting

I thought it would be fun to show you step by step how I create a painting. I usually work on masonite, a brown wooden panel drained in oil. First I make the panel white with a primer called gesso. You can see the blank panel in the first pic. Then I make the drawing and start blocking in colors. For some reason I always start with black. It takes about two days to get this far.

Drive Through- City Scene Painting Of McDonald's Drive Through

Drive Through
city scene painting of McDonald's Drive Through

6" x 6" or 15 x 15 cm
2012
SOLD

If you're interested in purchasing this painting just send me an email to info@gerardboersma.nl stating the title for more information and price.

As a painter I'm interested in moments that usually pass by unnoticed, like the scene on Drive Through. I love to capture those moments so you can observe them quietly. Then it's obvious, at least to me it is, that moments like this say a lot about todays society.

Connexxion- Painting Of People On The Bus

Connexxion
painting of people on the bus

G. Boersma
acrylic on masonite
6" x 6" or 15 x 15 cm
2008

SOLD

After all the giclees and larger scaled paintings I thought it might be time for something smaller, like Connexxion. It depicts people on a city bus owned by a company called Connexxion, hence the title.

I really like the scene through the windows, it makes a wonderful composition. I also love the silhouette on the inside of the bus, contrasting with the passenger in the foreground. It gives the painting more depth I think.

Just click on the link above if you're interested in purchasing todays painting. Start price is just 75 dollars.
