It feels real good to be fully concentrating on larger scaled paintings once again. There's no stress of finding any new subjects to paint for the day, no deadlines and above all I can go all out with the details, which I absolutely love.
This past week I painted Killah, a painting showing a shopwindow of a clothing store at night. I thought the name of the store was quite odd, Killah is slang for Killer if I understand American slang correctly. I remember standing in front of the shopwindow wondering about this, when I saw that the dummies were already killed so to speak. They all lost their heads, but at least they still looked nice.
This saturday my solo-show at Artemisia will open. Today we decorated the gallery and it really turned out great. A sneak preview of the show can be seen on the website of Artemisia. The show will be opened this saturday at 16.00 h (4 pm) by Peter de Haan, editor of the book Famous Frisians in America. I'm looking forward to the show and I hope to greet you as my guest!
kind regards, Gerard Boersma

Hey Gerard,
"Killer" as in: She's going out to a club Friday night and she's planning to wear a killer outfit. Killer here in this informal context means sensational, an outfit that will certainly get noticed.
Speaking of sensational, this painting really is superb. I love the composition and your use of colors and lighting.
Hey Diane,
Oh yeah that sounds like a decent explaination.
Either way, it still is about appearances though and not about what's inside ones head, which attracted me to paint this scene. I just noticed that the stores name is now changed into Hip, rest assured I had nothing to do with that!
kind regards, Gerard
