Tomorrow - LA Art Show, Los Angeles

Well it's sunday night and I'm all set for my trip to LA tomorrow! For those who haven't heard yet, my work will be represented by the Amstel Gallery at the LA Art Show from 21 jan - 25 jan. I packed my bag, got my ticket and passport handy, so I'm ready to go. It will be a long trip, about 11 hours in the plain, but I'm really, I mean really looking forward to it. If a have change I keep you up to date about how everything is going, but I'm not I sure I can. Anyway I will be on my way soon and if you happen to be near by please don't hesitate to visit us!

Inspection - Woman in Clothing Store 6" X 6"

While shopping recently with my sister in law for the LA Art Show I saw this lady shopping for some clothes as well. She really is giving it a close inspection!

Speaking of clothes, it's about time I started to pack mine, because I'm flying to Los Angeles this monday!

Yellow Cab

FInally a bit larger one this week! On todays painting you see a streetscene of New York. Of course the yellow cab is present, even a small pick up truck can be seen on the right.

The paintings arrived in LA save and sound! It's always very exciting that my paintings make such large trips overseas, so it's a relief to hear they arrived save. Now all I got to do is get myself there as well, that will happen next monday!

Coca Cola Bottle Small - Still life of bottle of coke

I'm really into the small paintings these last couple of days. While painting the musuem scenes recently I thought I tried my hand at a small still life as well. On todays painting you see a bottle of Coke. I'm not sure if you can see it, let alone read it, but the label in the right corner says XL. Extra Large for such a tiny bottle!

I had so much fun painting the Bride I couldn't help to paint another small museum scene. This time a woman is looking at the Love Letter by Vermeer as seen in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.

Drawer

In the Hamburger Kunsthalle I saw this guy trying to make a drawing of the lovely paintings displayed by Felix Valloton. There actually was a whole class scattered over the exhibition making drawings, but this guy caught my eye because of his red shirt against the red in the painting. It works quite well.

Bride - man looking at Jewish Bride by Rembrandt

I was working on a medium sized painting today and I just completed it when I felt like doing a really small one for a change. I haven't made any in a long time. On the painting you a see man looking at the Jewish Bride by Rembrandt, as seen in the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. It was quite difficult to get the heads of the figures straight, my panel being so small and all, but I think I pulled it off.

Tomorrow is a big day by the way. I don't really have to do anything, but my paintings will be shipped to Los Angeles for the LA Art Show. Very exciting! I said earlier that 12 paintings are included in the art fair, but we finally settled on 15 larger scaled paintings and 10 smaller ones. Quite a lot!

Behind Glass - woman looking at art 6' x 6"

Todays painting shows a woman taking a good look at the art displayed in a show-case at the ceramics museum Princessehof in my hometown Leeuwarden. The shadows and refelctions were great fun to paint and make the painting come alive. I always love when that happens.
