Daily Painters Gallery

This week I got accepted into the Daily Painters Gallery! For those that have never heard of this site, it is the first and largest juried gallery of daily painting artists.

Daily Painters.com was founded in 2006 by artist and daily painter Micah Condon. The group exists of 140 international artists, varying in style but all dedicated to paint everyday. I'm very honoured to be part of this elite group!

New isn't my painting 'The Cook' but it is back on auction again. Have a nice weekend!

kind regards, Gerard Boersma

Green Jacket

I'm there! I no longer have to put up with the iron of my old neighbour Auke Visser, instead I'm enjoying my new studio at the Infirmerie in my hometown Leeuwarden. Studio no. 15 is located at the top floor of the former militairy hospital and has a splended view over the small river Dokkumer Ee and the park Prinsentuin. The studio is about 30 square metres in size. A giant leap forward than the meager 6 I had before.

I will put some photo's of it online soon, but first I thought it would be nice to share the first painting I made in my new studio with all of you. I hope you enjoy this painting as much as I did painting it!

kind regards, Gerard Boersma

The Smoke

After painting The Sabrett and Hotdog (now on my blog) I couldn't resist the temptation to paint another hotdogstand, this time focusing more on the seller than before. The painting is a bit more loose than usual, but I defenitely like the results. I had a great time painting the smoke and the expression on the face of the seller. The scene is taken from a stroll through New York.

If you would like to have this blog painting just click on the link beneath the painting to place your bid. The auction only lasts for 10 days and you can expect the painting within a week to 10 days after the auction ends. You will receive the painting safely packaged and ready to frame or simply displayed on a small easel. Please be reminded that the colors may slightly vary due to a digitalcamera's results and depending on your monitor. I hope you enjoy this painting as much as I did painting it!

Hot Dog

Although I should be packing and cleaning out my old studio, I decided to take a break from that yesterday and just spend the whole day painting. It felt really good I can tell you! I came up with this night scene of a hot dog stand in New York. Nightscenes are always a fun thing to do and it was a real thrill painting all the different sorts of lights.

This is the last painting I did in my old studio, tomorrow I'm finally moving to my new studio. Things should be back to normal next week. Have a great weekend!

The Couple

One of my favourite subjects to paint nowadays are bookstores. I think it has something to do with the atmosphere. Knowledge is everywhere, but first and foremost reading is just a fun experience. Recently I saw this couple flipping pages of the books they picked up. And although they were temporarely in another world, it was obvious they belonged together. The painting is one of the last paintings I made in my old studio. If everything goes as planned I will be painting in my new studio next week!

The Dummy

I hardly had anytime to paint this week, that's why I haven't post anything new up to now. I'm still busy packing my belongings and cleaning out my old studio. It's kind of a drag to do, but it's all for a good cause!

On the new painting you see a dummy from a clothing store in Assen. It was a real challenge to make the dummy look real, but a the same time still made out of plastic. I hope you enjoy this painting and I hope I find some more painting time next week!

Hokuto Express

I've been mad busy cleaning out my old studio. Today I moved all my paintings to my new studio, which was quite some work. I still found the time to paint this view of a Japanese train with two of their employees. The woman is writing down something while the man is looking at something we cannot see. I had great fun with the lighting. The scene is taking from a ride of the Hokuto Express. Many thanks goes to Photopass Japan

Going Up

Knowing that I'm going to move soon to my new studio gives my quite a boost in energy lately. I'm feeling good and I've got a lot of inspiration. Today I painted this scene of two young women taking an escalator in the Magna Plaza, Amsterdam. The women couldn't be further apart in backgrounds, but they're going to the next level together. I wish more people did.

The Art Books

Today I got a whole day of painting, I always love that. No other things to disturb me and on top of that the days are getting longer as well, which means more painting time. I decided to paint one of my favourite subjects today, a bookstore. A guy is standing in front of all types of different art books. You can see a book about Dali in the forefront. I think this is one of those smaller sized painting which could work on a larger size as well. The scene is taking from a local bookstore here in Leeuwarden.

Yellow Cab

I started to clean out my old studio a bit. It's amazing how much stuff you gather during the years. I find things I haven't seen for years and I wonder why I have kept them anyway. It's going to take me some time before I'm ready to move to my new studio, that's for sure. I enjoyed the rest of the day painting this little gem. I had great fun painting the yellow cab, especially the glass. I wish you could see it in person, a lot of shapes barely appear on the picture. The scene is taking from a stroll in downtown New York.
